Whether you go traditional invites or e-vites, invitations are an important way to set your theme. Make sure to give your guests 4 to six weeks notice and let them know what the theme and attire will be, as well as all of the other important details.
Luck: If you want to go with a “luck” theme, think of the things normally associated with good luck: 4-leaf clovers, aces, horseshoes, 7’s, dice, pennies…even rabbit feet. You can have fun and use all of the symbols of good luck or just one.
Money: Who doesn’t love money? Create your invitation from an enlarged photo-copy of a dollar bill (or a hundred dollar bill!) Use lots of green and be sure to follow the same theme in decorations and food.
Vegas: Vegas is known for the lights, the showgirls, the slot machines, the 24 hour buffets and Elvis! Any one of these can be a theme – or you can just have a party celebrating the best of Vegas itself. Remember the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign – a perfect graphic for your Vegas party. Want to really set-up the event? Hire real showgirls (or an Elvis impersonator!) to hand deliver the invites.
Western: Burn the edges of thick paper for your Western-themed casino party, or use your computer printer to create “wanted” posters with your friend’s photo on the front and party details on the back. Think of other “Western” things such as 10-gallon hats, lassos, horses, cowboy boots, and bandanas. Get creative and be sure to use the same pieces to decorate your food tables and around the room.
James Bond/Martini: Invite your party guests to a 007 party with a “shaken-not-stirred” martini invite. Ask your guests to send their favorite martini recipe so that you can make sure to have the ingredients on hand at the party!
